Waste gas dechlorination units are responsible for absorbing all by-product chlorine gas streams from the electrolysis plant and converting them in sodium hypochlorite, thus avoiding any gaseous leakage to the atmosphere. They are also used as a safety unit to remove all chlorine from the electrolysis plant during shut down procedures.
thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers’ skid-mounted waste gas dechlorination system is based on a single column with a double packing configuration, with the advantage of a very compact layout while ensuring the highest safety standards required for the plant.
The unit is pre-assembled and pre-tested in qualified workshops under thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers supervision, and is delivered complete with equipment, piping, instrumentation and electrical wiring. For easy transportation in standard containers, the tower is divided over two skids that are then connected at site. In addition to new plants, the waste gas dechlorination unit can be also installed in existing plants for modernization or debottlenecking. Transportation to site in standard containers allows easy delivery even to remote areas.
