Small-scale chlorine plants are becoming important for chlorine consumers, driven by the economic development of rural areas and the increasing pressure to regulate liquid chlorine transportation. Feasibility for such plants is driven by the reduced investment cost, automated operation, energy efficiency and a limited environmental footprint.
thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers has developed a standardized skid-mounted chlor-alkali plant for this application with a design capacity up to 5,000 mtpy chlorine. Typical applications are for salt to bleach and salt to HCl production, or where limited quantities of chlorine and caustic are required. Design of this skid-mounted plant is based on a very compact design to optimize the plant footprint and with a high degree of system integration. The same simplified process, common to our entire skid-mounted plant family, is embedded in the design. This process simplification is the result of in-house experience for design, materials selection and plant construction from hundreds of chlorine plants worldwide.
All skids are manufactured by selected workshops under thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers supervision, and are delivered pre-assembled and pre-tested to the maximum extent, inclusive of equipment, piping, electrical, instrumentation and wiring. Transportation to site in standard containers allows for easy delivery even in remote areas.
