Solvay, Europe’s largest chlor-alkali producer based in Belgium, has selected thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers’s filterpress technology at 5 different locations worldwide, starting with an installation of BiTAC®, the first generatrion of BiTAC family, at their plant in Rheinberg, Germany for 97.000 metric-tons per year (NaOH-100%) in 2004.
After this very first BiTAC installation in Germany, Solvay installed BiTAC at two locations in Italy, one in Belgium and one in Thailand.
Solvay always has a keen interest to the most economical technology not only in the initial investment, but also in the operation cost for relatively long period of years. The references at Solvay are the proof of superior performance of BiTAC.
The total production capacity of BiTAC family at all Solvay plant locations amounts to more than 600.000, tons per year (NaOH-100%) and Solvay is one of the few operators who have experiences with all generations of BiTAC family, BiTAC®, n-BiTAC and nx-BiTAC and also the retrofitted BiTAC®.
Note: Some of the plants are transferred to Inovyn due to Solvay’s carve-out of its PVC business.
